Panthers fifth at BGM Holiday Brawl

Pekin’s girls’ wrestling team took part in BGM’s Holiday Brawl on Saturday, Jan. 3. The Panthers finished fifth out of 11 as a team with 91.5 points. Winning was South Tama with 236.5. Sigourney-Keota finished third with 134.
Lexa Nelson was the champion at 110, winning by fall in 1:45 over South Tama’s Jayva Gomez in the first place match.
Rylee Frye won over Madison Clarahan of Sigourney-Keota by fall in 1:54 in round 1 to take the win at 190. Pekin’s Carly Clubb had two wins over Savanna Jenks of Lone Tree to finish third.
Bree Earnest took second place at 105 after falling to Helen Maldonado of South Winneshiek in the first place round.
Hailey Pedrick was second at 145, getting a win over Sigourney-Keota’s Izzy Heisdorffer be fall in 3:08 in round three.
At 120, Autumn Coleman had a fifth-place finish with a win by fall in 0:58 over Union Community’s Alexus Umbaugh.
Ella Rose finished fourth at 155.
