Panthers heading to state track meet in 16 events

The Panthers will be sending athletes in 16 events to the state track meet that will be held this Thursday, May 22 through Saturday, May 24.
Competing in the girls’ events for Pekin will be:
Anna Hadley — shot put, seed 11
Anna Hadley — discus, seed 3
Kayse Miller — high jump, seed 5
Chloe Glosser — 3000m, seed 2
Chloe Glosser — 1500m, seed 2
Paislee Coleman — 100m hurdles, seed 23
Tea Orgovanyi — 100m dash (PARA), seed 1
Shuttle Hurdle — Brisby, Miller, Gambell, Coleman, seed 11
On the boys’ side, Pekin will be represented by:
Will Adam — long jump, seed 19
Kasey Davis — 110 high hurdles, seed 12
Riley Smith — 400m hurdles, seed 18

Both of Pekin’s teams placed second at the state-qualifying District Meet held at WACO last Thursday, May 15.
The Panther girls’ team took second with 98, only four points behind HLV-TC. Third went to English Valleys with 91, Lone Tree was fourth with 75, and WACO finished fifth with 62. Sixth was Danville with 61, seventh was Hillcrest Academy with 57, eighth was Sigourney with 52, Highland and WMU tied for ninth with 37. Columbus was 11th with 24, Wapello was 12th with 22, Keota was 13th with 8, and New London finished 14th.
Anna Hadley won both the discus with a throw of 129-09 and shot put with a throw of 36-6.75. Kayse Miller placed second in the high jump with a jump of 5-01. Reece Brisby finished seventh in the high jump with a jump of 4-06, Grace Phillips finished ninth in the discus with a throw of 83-09, and Taylor Moore was 11th with a throw of 30-01.00.
Paislee Coleman placed second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.96, and Reece Brisby finished seventh in 18.10. Carlie Gambell placed fifth in the 400m hurdles in 1:14.78. Chloe Glosser won the 1500m run with a time of 4:50.90 and won the 3000m run with a time of 10:45.72. Tea Orgovanyi won the 100m ambulatory event.
The 4x100m shuttle hurdle team of Reece Brisby, Kayse Miller, Carlie Gambell, and Paislee Coleman won with a time of 1:10.51. Three relays placed third: 4x400 in 4:34.31 (Abby Guise, Carlie Gambell, Renae Eubanks, Breanna Drish), 4x800 in 11:51.28 (Abby Guise, Callie Deutschle, Harper Guise, Bree Earnest), and the distance medley in 4:45.69 (Bree Earnest, Addison Smith, Renae Eubanks, Maddie Petrehn).
The 4x100 relay finished fifth in 54.28 (Addison Smith, Kayse Miller, Paislee Coleman, Renae Eubanks), and the 800 sprint medley finished seventh in 2:04.94 (Bree Earnest, Renae Eubanks, Addison Smith, Maddie Petrehn).
The boys’ team finished second with 100 points, 23 points behind first-place Columbus. English Valleys was third with 85, New London finished fourth with 67, and Danville and WMU tied for fifth with 60. WACO was seventh with 50, Sigourney eighth with 47, Wapello ninth with 39, Hillcrest Academy 10th with 33, HLV-TC 11th with 31, Keota and Lone Tree both 12th with 18, and Highland 14th with 4.
Caden Bender finished second in the shot put with a throw of 45-06.25 and in the discus with a throw of 138-04. Alton Williams placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 124-09, Brody Sobaski finished sixth in the high jump with a jump of 5-06.00, and Will Adam was fourth in the long jump with a jump of 20-06.75.
Riley Smith placed second in the 400m hurdles in 56.70, Kasey Davis placed third in the 110m hurdles in 15.24, Cael Silvers was third in the 400m dash in 55.38, and Lane Fariss finished fifth in the 800m run in 2:09.46.
Pekin had three first-place finishes in the relays with the 800 sprint medley winning in 1:36.11 (Kasey Davis, Robert Brown, Riley Smith, Nolan Glick), the 4x400m relay winning in 3:27.98 (Mason Dahlstrom, Will Adam, Riley Smith, Nolan Glick), and the 4x800m relay winning in 8:37.53 (Mason Dahlstrom, Lane Fariss, Landon Crow, Cole Millikin). The 4x110m shuttle hurdle relay team of Robert Brown, Henry Adam, Kasey Davis, and Will Adam placed second in 1:01.32, and the 4x200m relay team of Robert Brown Nolan Glick, Riley Smith, and Will Adam placed second in 1:31.20.
