Pekin’s girls’ wrestling team hosted the Bill Rex Invitational on Dec. 9. The Panthers took fourth out of 13 teams with 106.5 points. Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont won with 259, Burlington finished second with 173.5, and Albia was third with 117.5.
Pekin had two champions with Hailey Pedrick at 140 and Lila Miller at135. Pedrick won the first-place match by injury default over Josie Nelson of Columbus. Pedrick had a win in the semifinal round by fall over Aubrey Major of Albia and in the quarterfinal round over Fairfield’s Haley Ulin. Miller won her first-place match over Madison Connell of EBF by fall. She also had wins over Hadley Noe of Cardinal and Olivia Magruder of Lone Tree.
Ivory Small placed fourth at 130 after losing the third place match to Kendra Krause of EBF.
Ella Rose placed fifth at 145 after winning the fifth-place match over Kaydee Cossolotto of Moravia.
Sixth-place finishes for Pekin came from Bree Earnest at 120, Lexa Nelson at 110, and Makena Martin at 100.
