Panthers host Jerry Horton Relays

The Panther girls’ track team hosted the Jerry Horton Relays last Thursday, April 13. Pekin won with 163 points, while Davis County was second with 113.50 and Cardinal finished third with 93. Finishing fourth was English Valleys with 54, Albia finished fifth with 48, Twin Cedars was sixth with 40, Tri-County finished seventh with 35.50, New London was eighth with 19, and Keota finished ninth with 10.
Chloe Glosser had a win for Pekin, taking the 1500-meter run in 5:17.00, while Lauren Steigleder won the 3000-meter run in 12:41.19. Pekin had four wins in the relays, the 4x800 relay in 10:44.01, the sprint medley relay in 2:02.55, the distance medley relay in 5:02.26, and the 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay in 1:20.52. In field events, Kayse Miller won the high jump for Pekin with a jump of 4-10 and Anna Hadley won the shot put with a throw of 36-00.50.
Abbe Guise finished second in the high jump with a jump of 4-08; while Anna Hadley finished second in the discus with a throw of 107-03 and Emma Phillips was third with a throw of 102-06.
Claire Roth placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.55; Lauren Steigleder finished second in the 800-meter run in 2:50.99 and Alex Parsons finished third in 2:51.13. Renae Eubanks placed third in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.38 and in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:23.31. Abby Guise finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.81, and Kayse Miller was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:27.34. The 4x100 relay finished second in 55.37, the 4x400 relay took third in 4:55.15, and the 4x200 finished fourth in 2:05.69.
