Panthers open track season in Ames

The Pekin high school track teams opened up the season at the 2024 IATC Indoor Championships in Ames on Thursday, March 7, and Friday, March 8.

The Panther boys competed on Thursday. Pekin results were the shuttle hurdle team of Will Adam, Robert Brown, Kasey Davis, and JaeDon Wolver placed fourth in 35.36; Caden Bender finished sixth in the shot put with a throw of 45-04.25; and the 4x400 relay team of Nolan Glick, Henry Adam, Sven Dahlstrom, and Mason Dahlstrom placed seventh with a time of 3:40.95.

The girls’ competition was held Friday, March 8. Anna Hadley placed second in the shot put with a throw of 40-00.00, while Chloe Glosser took third place in the 1500-meter run in 5:06.80. The 4x800 relay team of Audrey Fariss, Alex Parsons, Lauren Steigleder, and Chloe Glosser finished third in 10:40.56. Kayse Miller placed sixth in the high jump with a jump of 4-11.00, and Abby Guise was ninth in the high jump with a jump of 4-09.004.
