Panthers suffer two losses in week

Pekin 11 New London-WMU 7
The Panthers staved off a late Tiger comeback to win a Southeast Iowa Super Conference crossover game last Monday, June 2. New London was down eight runs going into the final at-bat, and cut that lead in half, with four. Pekin, however, held on for the win.
Anna Hadley had two hits and two RBIs for Pekin. Myah Bainbridge finished with two hits, and Kenadie Long knocked in two runs. Addison Smith pitched 3-2/3 innings and had five strikeouts.
Pekin 3 Van Buren 11
The Panthers fell to Van Buren County last Thursday, June 5. Pekin held a 1-0 lead at the end of the first two innings, but a 9-run third and fourth inning for Van Buren gave them the advantage. Both teams put two on the boards in the fifth.
Addison Smith, Ezra Parsons, and Anna Hadley each had an RBI. Carlie Gambell hit a double and Hadley had a home run. In pitching, Smith walked two and struck out four, and Parsons struck out one.
Pekin 1 Wapello 4
It was a low-scoring game between Wapello and Pekin last Friday night, June 6. Wapello got the scoring started with a run in the fourth, while Pekin’s only run in the night came in the sixth.
Carlie Gambell had three hits. Mikayla Shuttlefield hit a double and had an RBI. Ezra Parsons struck out three batters and walked one.
