Patriotic Panthers 4-H Club holds December meeting

The Patriotic Panthers 4-H Club met on Dec. 13, 2023 at Prairie View Church starting with a family potluck supper. Twenty-two members and their families were in attendance. Michelle Jacobs installed the 2023 — 2024 club officers. President, Lexi Swearingen; Vice President, Haylea Oostra; Secretary, Lexi Swearingen; Treasurer, Bo Latcham; Reporter, Cole Millikin; and Parliamentarian, Carley Clarahan.
Club leader Sharon Fritchen welcomed new members, Lane Cason, Caden Gorsh, Nicole Jacobs, Joshua Martin, and Levi Voyles. Also recognized were the two nine-year senior members Haylea Oostra and Lexi Swearingen.
First year members receiving their 4-H certificate of years were Bentley Clark, Maci Crow, Eleanora Ferrell, Stephen Jacobs, Kylee Kier, and Colten Voyles.
Members receiving record book project awards and 2023 year seal at Awards Rally were: Sawyer Cason, Carley Clarahan, Bentley Clark, Maci Crow, Ethen Echelberry, Izaak Echelberry, Eleanora Ferrell, Kylee Kier, Sam Loper, Cole Millikin, Haylea Oostra, Colt Reed, Kylee Reed, Iris Steinhart, Lexi Swearingen, Teagan Swearingen and Colten Voyles. Those receiving their 2023 year seal were Ella Bruns, Erica Clubb, Anna Hadley, Michelle Jacobs, John Jacobs and Kendyl Noel.
The 2023 Outstanding Intermediate Award was presented to Carley Clarahan; the 2023 Ak-Sar-Ben award was presented to Lexi Swearingen; and the 2023 Outstanding Senior Award was presented to Kylee Reed. The Patriotic Panthers 4-H Club received the second place Communications award presented by the Keokuk County Farm Bureau.
Business discussed was the Keokuk County Expo 4-H/FFA Fair dates are July 14-20, 2024, YQCA testing codes, Beef entry in 4-H online by Jan. 31, 2024
The next meeting will be Jan. 10, 2024 at Prairie View Church.
