Pekin art students recently participated in the 2025 Budding Artists Show at Art Domestique Gallery in Washington, Iowa.
This event, which ran from February 1 to March 15, provided middle and high school art students a professional exhibition experience alongside schools across Southeast Iowa including Fairfield, Washington, and Dowling from Des Moines.
An awards reception was held to celebrate student achievements during the art show, and some Pekin students earned awards and prizes for their outstanding work. In the 3D Art catagory Evynn Moore received second place for her ceramic sculpture, ‘Fish,’ and Carter Yeoman received honorable mention for his Sculpey Clay piece, ‘Chocolate Covered Waffles.’ Seventh grader Sophie Davis received honorable mention for her photograph, ‘The Beat Begins,’ in the 2D Art catagory.
Pekin art students Brookelynn Wolcott and Evynn Moore participated in the Youth Art Month Show held at Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines in March. Both Pekin artists received awards for their creative talents.
