Tuesday, May 3
Hillcrest Academy 17, Pekin 2
The Ravens put up 11 points in the first inning of a 15-run Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division win.
Seth Ours went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead Hillcrest. Luke Schrock was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Josiah Beachy was 1-for-1 at the plate with two RBIs. He also threw a complete game, giving up just two runs (one earned), while striking out six Panthers over four innings.
Thursday, June 1
Pekin 10, Lone Tree 8
Pekin led Lone Tree 3-0 for two innings on Thursday. Lone Tree took the lead with four in the top of the fifth, but the Panthers were able to retake the lead with a pair in the bottom half of the inning, 5-4.
Three from the Lions in the sixth put them back on top 7-5, but Pekin tied it up, 7-7, with a pair in the bottom of the sixth.
Lone Tree broke the tie with a run in the top of the seventh, but Pekin went on to score three in the bottom of the seventh.
Deklan Hampton and Will Adam led the Panthers with three hits each in the win. Adam had two RBIs as well. Levi Coleman and Ben Ehret had two RBIs each. Hampton finished with one RBI.
JaeDon Wolver, Ehret, Hudson VanEnglenhoven and Sven Dahlstrom gave up a combined a eight run (six earned) on six hits, seven walks and 12 strikeouts.
Friday, June 2
Louisa-Muscatine 6, Pekin 4
Louisa-Muscatine led Pekin 2-1 heading into the third on Friday. The Panthers were never able to get on top as the Falcons scored one in the fourth and three more in the sixth.
Pekin put three on the board in the seventh, but that’s all they could get.
Tanner Adrian led Pekin with one hit in the game and two RBIs. Deklan Hampton and Hudson VanEnglenhoven both had an RBI as well.
Saturday, June 3
North Mahaska 12, Pekin 5
Pekin held a 2-1 lead after the second inning, but the Warhawks went on to score 11 in the final four innings to win it on Saturday.
Hudson VanEnglenhoven had two hits for the Panthers. Will Adam finished with two RBIs in the loss and Cade Parmenter had one.
VanEnglenhoven, Nolan Glick and Joseph Coates gave up a combined 12 runs (eight earned) on eight hits, five walks and 11 strikeouts.
Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 9, Pekin 6
EBF led Pekin 4-0 after three innings and never trailed in the game on Saturday. Pekin was able to tie the game at 6-6 after the top of the sixth, but the Rockets scored the final runs with three in the bottom half of the inning.
Levi Coleman, Deklan Hampton and Hudson VanEnglenhoven all finished with two hits for Pekin. VanEnglenhoven had three RBIs. Joesph Coates finished with two RBIs and Hampton had one.
Monday, June 5
Van Buren County 12, Pekin 7
The Warriors won an absolute battle between two area teams to move to 9-1 on the season.
Van Buren County’s Jackson Manning went off in the game, going 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. Izaak Loeffler went 4-for-5 with two RBIs., and Taylor Sprouse was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
Dylan Richardson threw 6.1 innings and gave up just five earned runs over seven innings to earn the win.
Wednesday, June 7
Pekin 22, Danville 13
Pekin trailed Danville 5-3 after the first inning on Wednesday, but the Panthers went on to score two runs in each of the next four innings for a 11-7 lead heading into the sixth.
The Panthers ended with five runs in the sixth frame and six and the seventh.
Deklan Hampton had three hits for the Panthers in the win.
Joseph Coates, Hudson VanEnglenhove, Ben Ehret, Levi Coleman and JaeDon Wolver each at two hits.
Ehret ended with three RBIs. Wolver and VanEnglenhoven both had two RBIs as well.
Nolan Glick and Will Adam each had a pair of RBIs. Levi Coleman and Coates each had one.
