Pekin boys’ team compete in Ames

Pekin’s boys’ track team competed in the 2023 Iowa High School Indoor Track Championships in Ames over the weekend. The Panthers finished 17th overall.

The distance medley team of Sven Dahlstrom, Will Adam, JaeDon Wolver, and Brady McWhirter finished seventh in 3:55.2; while the 4x8 relay team of Robert Brown, Riley Smith, Ben Guise, and Cole Millikin took tenth in 10:31.54. The 4x1 relay team of Kasey Davis, Sven Dahlstrom, Nolan Glick, and Riley Smith finished 17th in 52.2; the 4x4 team of Will Adam, Robert Brown, JaeDon Wolver, and Nolan Glick finished 14th in 3:53.52. Pekin’s shuttle hurdle team of Kasey Davis, Will Adam, Robert Brown, and JaeDon Wolver finished seventh in 38.53.

Brady McWhirter got a second-place finish in the 3200 with a time of 10:24.97, and Cole Millikin finished 19th in the 1600 with a time of 5:39.4.

In the field events, JaeDon Wolver placed 10th in the high jump with a jump of 5-09; and Robert Brown finished 13th in the long jump with 17-06. Caden Bender had a throw of 39-11 in the shot put to finish 13th.
