Pekin boys’ wrestlers compete

Pekin’s boys’ wrestling team competed at Mediapolis last Thursday, where they faced L&M, Mediapolis, and WACO.
L&M 42, Pekin 18
Gavyn Brown (160) won by fall in 3:26 over Will Hoopes. Blake Juhl won by fall in 1:17 over Parker Stender. Ryan Doud (195) won by forfeit.
Mediapolis 54, Pekin 18
Gavyn Brown (160) won by fall in 2:46 over Ben Gerst. Blake Juhl (182) won by fall in 2:14 over Parker Lange. Logan Baker won by forfeit at 170.
WACO 46, Pekin 24
Gannon Greiner (126) won by fall in 4:54 over John McLaughlin. Logan Baker (170) won be fall in 1:28 over Braden Staffod. Blake Juhl (182) won by fall in 0:58 over Oleh Stefanchuk. Hayden Bowman won by forfeit at 120.
Riverside Invitational
Pekin ended up 15th out of 20 teams at the Riverside Wrestling Invitational last weekend. The Panthers had 38 points. Creston won with 227, while Woodbury Central was second with 144 and Logan-Magnolia was third with 142.
Reed Lauderman (106) finished eighth after losing the seventh place match to Ethan Beed of Aurora.
Zachary Doud (120) finished eighth after losing to Lyrick Stueve of Logan-Magnolia in the seventh place match. Doud won by fall over Tristan Werner of Ridge View in the Consolation Round 2.
Gavyn Brown (160) placed fourth after losing the third place match to Ryder Koele of Woodbury Central. Brown won by fall over Leland Woodruff of Clarinda in 1:54 in Champ. Round 1, and won by fall over Tyler Kennedy of West Sioux, Hawarden in the Quarterfinal Round.
Blake Juhl (182) placed third after winning the third place match by fall in 3:18 over Harlan’s Bret Van Baale. Juhl won the Quarterfinal Round by fall in 4:39 over Owen Hoover of CAM.
