Pekin fall athletes receive recognition

Members of Pekin’s fall teams have recently been recognized for their outstanding performances in the 2024 season.

Chloe Glosser

Chloe Glosser was named to the first team Class 1A All-State Girls’ Cross Country Team following the 2024 Cross Country season. Glosser also earned an Elite All-State award from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches, the first Panther to ever earn this. Elite All-State awards go to athletes who finish in the top 30 at the State Meet, regardless of class. Glosser finished third in the Class 1A girls’ state race with a time of 18:31.9.

Will Adam

Will Adam was named to the first team Class A All-State Football team defense following the 2024 Football season. His stats for the 2024 season include, offensively 1215 yards passing, 936 yards rushing, and 28 touch downs; and defensively 40.5 tackles, 4 forced turnovers, and 2 defensive touchdowns.

Will Adam was named as the unanimous Class A District 5 Offensive MVP for the 2024 football season. As a quarterback, Adam threw for 1215 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 110 times for 936 yards and 15 touchdowns. In District 5, Adam had the second-most passing touchdowns and the fifth-most rushing.

Caden Bender

Caden Bender was named to the second team Class A All-State Football team defense following the 2024 Football season. His stats for the 2024 season include 31.5 tackles, with 10 solo; 4 sacks; 4 tackles for loss; he assisted in 56 touchdowns and in 3678 yards of total offense.

Caden Bender was named to the All-District team as an offensive lineman. Thanks to the offensive line, Pekin gained 2401 yards rushing with 45 rushing touchdowns this season.

Robert Brown

Robert Brown has been named to the 2024 Iowa Football Coaches Association Academic All-State list for the 2024 season. Criteria for nomination and selection from the IFCA includes the player must be a senior starter, must have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or better at the end of their junior year, must be involved in other extracurricular activities, and the head coach must recommend the player.

Pekin’s wide receiver Robert Brown was named to the All-District team after finishing his senior season with 29 catches for 514 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also had 6 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Alijah Brock

Alijah Brock was named as an All-District wide receiver this season. The sophomore finished the season with 13 catches for 293 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Nolan Glick

Nolan Glick was named to the All-District team as a running back. Glick finished his season with 707 yards and 17 touchdowns in 94 carries.

Isaac Sylvester

Isaac Sylvester was named to the All-District team as an offensive lineman. Thanks to the offensive line, the Panthers were able to gain 1277 yards through the air, scoring 11 passing touchdowns.

Alton Williams

Alton Williams was named to the All-District team for defense. Williams had 31 tackles, which included 16 solo. He also had 2 sacks, 3.5 tackles for a loss, and an interception.

Henry Adam

Henry Adam was named to the All-District team for defense. The sophomore finished the season with a team-leading 59.5 tackles, with 32 of those solo. Adam had 3 interceptions and 2 sacks.

Kasey Davis

Kasey Davis was named to the All-District team for defense. The senior had 13 solo tackles and recorded 20 total. Davis also recovered a fumble, and had 2 interceptions, returning one for a touchdown.

Riley Smith

Named to the Honorable Mention list was junior Riley Smith. He rushed for 128 yards and 3 touchdowns, and had 3 receptions for 18 yards.

Landon Crow

Named to the Honorable Mention list was Landon Crow. The junior carried the ball 18 times for 104 yards and a touchdown. He also had 35 tackles overall and 16 solo.

Cal Miller

Cal Miller was named to the Honorable Mention list. The offensive lineman had 8 total tackles and recovered a fumble.
