Pekin fifth-graders receive flags
Southeast Iowa Union offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
Earlier this spring, Pekin fifth-grade students were honored to host special visitors from the American Legion Post 504, Jim Archer and Bob Waugh. The students were challenged to write an essay about the American flag. Chase Reinier won first place for his essay, Jax Stephens received second place, and Aubrey Brown was third.
Archer and Waugh presented each fifth-grader with an American flag of their own to take home. The Legion would like to thank Korwin Hinshaw, Sinclair Tractor, Middlekoop Seed, Myers Repair, Dickey Transport, Adrian Trucking, Federation Bank, and Mike’s Parts and Service for their donations to make this possible.
