Pekin fifth-graders write ‘What the Flag Means to Me’
Southeast Iowa Union offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
Pekin’s fifth-grade students recently completed essays titled ‘What the Flag Means to Me,’ a project proudly sponsored by the Richland American Legion Post 504. The Legion awarded monetary prizes to the top three essays with Ivy Mitchell receiving $100 for first place, Braylee Pilcher $75 for second, and Thea Holthus $50 for third.
The students also collected donations for our troops overseas and presented the items to the American Legion representatives when they were at the school.
