Pekin girls win conference, boys take second

The Panthers took part in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference Track Meet, North Division, last Thursday at WACO.
Pekin’s girls’ team won with 137 points. L&M finished second with 132, Lone Tree was third with 100, WACO fourth with 87, Hillcrest Academy was fifth with 86, Highland sixth with 49, Winfield-Mt. Union was seventh with 40, Wapello was eighth with 26, and Columbus ninth with 33.
The Panthers had six first-place finishes. Chloe Glosser won the 1500m run in 4:57.27 and won the 3000m run in 10:47.96. The 4x100m shuttle hurdle team of Reece Brisby, Kayse Miller, Carlie Gambell, and Paislee Coleman won with a time of 1:10.93. In field events, Kayse Miller jumped 5-00.00 for first place in the high jump, and Anna Hadley won the shot put with a throw of 35-08.00 and the discus with a throw of 137-05.
Reece Brisby finished third in the high jump with a jump of 4-08.00, and Grace Phillips had a fourth-place finish in the discus with a throw of 88-10.
In the 100m hurdles Paislee Coleman took second in 17.18 and Reece Brisby finished third in 17.35. Carlie Gambell placed second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:16.73. Addison Smith finished fifth in both the 100m dash and the 200m dash. Callie Deutschle finished sixth in the 800m run, Abby Guise was seventh in the 1500m run, Zoey Atkinson finished seventh in the 3000m run, and Harper Guise finished seventh in the 800m run and eighth in the 400m dash.
The 4x800m relay team of Maddy Petrehn, Abby Guise, Callie Deutschle, and Harper Guise placed second with a time of 11:19.24. Carlie Gambell, Renae Eubanks, Maddy Petrehn, and Chloe Glosser took third in the distance medley relay in 4:35.08. In the 4x400m relay Abby Guise, Bree Earnest, Maddy Petrehn, and Breanna Drish finished fourth in 4:54.08. Pekin had a fifth-place finish in the 4x100m relay, a seventh-place finish in the 4x200m relay and an eighth-place finish in the sprint medley relay.
In the North boys’ race, Pekin placed second with 155, 24 points behind first-place Columbus. WACO finished third with 97, Winfield-Mt. Union was fourth with 80, Wapello took fifth with 58, L&M was sixth with 57, Hillcrest Academy finished seventh with 36, Lone Tree was eighth with 26, and Highland was ninth with 19.
The Panther boys’ team had six first-place finishes. Riley Smith won the 400m hurdles in 57.21, and Alton Williams won the discus with a throw of 138-09. Pekin had four wins in the relay events: the 4x200m relay team of Robert Brown, Nolan Glick, Riley Smith, and Will Adam won with a time of 1:32.06. The 4x400m relay team of Nolan Glick, Mason Dahlstrom, Will Adam, and Brody Sobaski won in 3:38.12. The 4x800m relay team of Mason Dahlstrom, Lane Fariss, Landon Crow, and Cole Millikin won in 8:42.22. And the sprint medley relay team of Kasey Davis, Robert Brown, Riley Smith, and Nolan Glick won in 1:36.81.
Henry Adam, Robert Brown, Will Adam, and Kasey Davis placed second in the 4x110m shuttle hurdle relay in 1:02.50. The 4x100m relay team of Kasey Davis, Robert Brown, Riley Smith, and Henry Adam placed third in 45.36.
In the field events, Caden Bender finished second in the shot put with a throw of 46-03.00 and sixth in the discus with a throw of 119-11.50. Will Adam placed second in the long jump with a jump of 20-01.00 and Henry Adam finished fourth with a throw of 18-07.50. Brody Sobaski finished third in the high jump with a jump of 5-06.00. Jaxon Mefford placed sixth in the high jump and Alton Williams placed seventh in the shot put.
Cole Millikin placed second in the 3200m run in 10:31.32 and fourth in the 1600m run in 4:57.08, Kasey Davis finished third in the 110m hurdles in 14.79, Cody Silvers finished fourth in the 400m dash in 56.71 and Cael Silvers was fifth in 56.92. Hayden Miller finished fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.67 and Lane Fariss was sixth in the 1600m run in 5:00.37. Nolan Glick finished ninth in the 100m dash, Brody Sobaski finished seventh in the 200m dash, Henry Eubanks was 12th in the 200m dash, Landon Crow placed seventh in the 800m run, Cody Silvers was 10th in the 800m run, Dylan Sobaski finished seventh in the 3200m run, and Jaxon Mefford finished ninth in the 110m hurdles. The distance medley relay team finished fifth.
