Pekin girls’ wrestling team take title at Bill Rex Invitational

The Pekin girls’ wrestling team took the title at the Bill Rex Girls Invitational Saturday, Dec. 3 with 50 points. North Mahaska took second with 32, Cardinal was third with 26, Moravia finished fourth with 20.

Getting first place finishes for Pekin in their home invitational was Payten Coleman at 130 and Lila Miller at 140.

Emma Hopper (125) placed third after getting a round five win over Pekin’s Lexa Nelson by fall in 1:33. Lexa Nelson (125) placed fifth.

Payten Coleman (130) won after getting wins over Macy Grove of Cardinal in rounds one (fall 3:02) and two (fall 3:51)

At 140, Pekin’s Lila Miller placed first, Hailey Pedrick finished second, and Rainee Greiner was third.

Cheryl Wise (170) finished fourth.
