Pekin hosts home meet

The Panther boys’ track team hosted the Pekin Invitational last Thursday, April 6. Van Buren won with 160 points, while Pekin took second with 117. English Valleys finished third with 79, Keota was fourth with 29, and Moulton-Udell finished fifth with 21.
Pekin had two wins in individual running events. Brady McWhirter won the 3200-meter run in 10:20.10 and JaeDon Wolver won the 400-meter hurdles in 59.92.
Getting second place finishes were Cole Millikin in the 1600-meter run in 5:29.65 and Kyler Dickey in the 110-meter hurdles in 19.39. Kasey Davis finished third in both the 110-meter hurdles (19.39) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.17)
William Daniels finished fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:09.90. Cole Millikin finished fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:33.48 and Ben Guise finished fifth in the 1600-meter run in 5:59.45.
Pekin had two wins in the relay events. The sprint medley team of Sven Dahlstrom, Will Adam, Nolan Glick, and JaeDon Wolver won in 1:43.07; and the shuttle hurdle relay team of Will Adam, Kasey Davis, Kyler Dickey, and JaeDon Wolver won in 1:10.53.
The 4x400 relay team of Riley Smith, Nolan Glick, Brady McWhirter, and Sven Dahlstrom placed second with a time of 3:55.86. Pekin’s 4x800 relay team of Cole Millikin, Will Daniels, Riley Smith, and Ben Guise finished second in 10:04.97; and the distance medley team got a second-place finish in 3:58.84.
JaeDon Wolver finished second in the high jump with a jump of 5-08.00 and Riley Smith finished fourth with a jump of 5-02.00. In the long jump, Will Adam finished third with a jump of 17-05.00 and Nolan Glick placed sixth with a jump of 16-07.50. Caden Bender finished third in the shot put with a throw of 32-06.50 and Alton Williams finished fourth with a throw of 31-09.00. In the discus, Brayden Greiner placed fourth with a throw of 81-10 and Alton Williams finished fifth with a throw of 79-02.
