Pekin hosts Panther Relays co-ed meet

Pekin hosted the Jerry Horton Co-Ed Relays last Thursday, April 18.
Varsity girls
The varsity girls’ team finished third with 106 points. Winning was English Valleys with 169, while Davis County was second with 120, Centerville was fourth with 83, Cardinal was fifth with 60, and Keota finished sixth with 20.
In the field events, Anna Hadley won both the discus and shot put. In the shot, she had a throw of 37-02.75 and in the discus she won with a throw of 127-10. Taylor Moore placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 28-09, and Grace Phillips took sixth in the discus with a throw of 88-08. Kayse Miller won the high jump for Pekin with a 5-00 jump. Reece Brisby placed fourth with a jump of 4-08. In the long jump, Brinley Phillips was sixth with a jump of 14-02 and Carlie Gambell finished seventh with a jump of 13-08.
In the individual running events, Maddy Petrehn placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:41.81, and Reece Brisby took second in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.08.
The Panthers had two wins in the relay events. The distance medley team of Carlie Gambell, Bree Earnest, Renae Eubanks, and Maddy Petrehn won with a time of 4:50.28; and the 4x110 shuttle hurdle team won in 1:11.52.
Addison Smith, Paislee Coleman, Renae Eubanks, and Kayse Miller finished third in the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 55.12; while the 4x200-meter relay team of Carlie Gambell, Addison Smith, Abby Guise, and Renae Eubanks finished third in 2:00.79. The 4x400-meter relay team of Maddy Petrehn, Abby Guise, Renae Eubanks, and Harper Guise placed third in 4:50.75; and the 4x800-meter relay team of Abby Guise, Callie Deutschle, Harper Guise, and Brinley Phillips placed third in 12:21.56.
Varsity boys
Pekin’s varsity boys’ team won with 186 points. Centerville was second with 111, Davis County took third with 107, and North Mahaska was fourth with 65.
In the field events, Will Adam won the long jump with a jump of 19-10, while Henry Adam placed fifth with a jump of 18-06. Brody Sobaski finished second in the high jump with a jump of 5-08. In the shot put, Caden Bender finished second with a throw of 43-11 and Alton Williams was fifth with 38-02.50. Caden Bender placed second in the discus with a throw of 134-06 and Alton Williams finished fifth with a throw of 127-07.
In the individual track events, Pekin had five wins: Henry Eubanks won the 200-meter dash in 23.94, Brody Sobaski won the 400-meter dash in 56.18, Mason Dahlstrom won the 800-meter run in 2:12.39, Cole Millikin won the 1600-meter run in 4:59.37, and Riley Smith won the 400-meter hurdles in 58.48. Hayden Miller placed second in the 100-meter dash in 11.96, while Brody Sobaski placed third in 12:37. Lane Fariss had a second-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.99, and Dylan Sobaski finished second in the 3200-meter run in a time of 11:44.21.
In the relay events, Pekin came away with six wins and a second-place finish. The 4x200-meter team of Robert Brown, Riley Smith, Nolan Glick, and Will Adam won in 1:34.07. Brody Sobaski, Landon Crow, Mason Dahlstrom, and Riley Smith won the 4x400-meter relay in 3:32.40. The 4x800-meter relay of Mason Dahlstrom, Cole Millikin, Landon Crow, and Lane Fariss won in 8:58.88. Kasey Davis, Robert Brown, Nolan Glick, and Riley Smith won the sprint medley relay in 1:39.03; while Henry Adam, Henry Eubanks, Landon Crow, and Cole Millikin won in 4:04.82. Winning the 4x110-meter shuttle hurdle relay in 1:04.07 was Robert Brown, Will Adam, Henry Adam, and Kasey Davis. The 4x100-meter relay team of Will Adam, Robert Brown, Nolan Glick, and Kasey Davis finished second in 46.85.
JV girls
Pekin’s JV girls’ team finished second with 82. Winning was Davis County with 96, third was English Valleys with 59, Cardinal was fourth with 36, and Keota was fifth with 15.
Ryleigh Garr finished fourth in both the 100-meter dash in 17.28 and the 200-meter dash in 35.91. Emerson Porter won the 800-meter run in 2:56.13 and placed second in the 1500-meter run in 6:14.26.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Ryleigh Garr, Zoey Atkinson, Ava Gillam, and Ava Owens won in 1:03.39; and the 4x200-meter relay team of Zoey Atkinson, Callie Deutschle, Ryleigh Garr, and Breanna Drish won in 2:16.69. In the 4x400-meter relay, Brinley Phillips, Ava Owens, Zoey Atkinson, and Callie Deutschle finished second in 5:07.46.
In the shot put, Ava Gillam placed third with a throw of 24-09.75 and Rylee Frye finished fifth in 22-10.50. Taylor Moore won the discus with a throw of 85-03 while Rylee Frye placed fifth with a throw of 69-00.
JV boys
The JV boys’ team won with 133, while Davis County was second with 68, Centerville took third with 54, and North Mahaska was fourth with 25.
In the boys’ JV 100-meter dash, Gabe Gentry placed second in 13.34 and Liam Guise finished fifth in 15.39. Dylan Sobaski won the 400-meter dash in 1:05.54 and Johnathan Jacobs placed second in 1:13.70. Cloyd Conor won the 800-meter run in 2:35.18 and Dylan Sobaski came in second in 2:38.53. In the 400-meter hurdles, Aiden Porter won in 1:08.49 and Johnathan Jacobs finished third in 1:23.90.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Ryann Hammes, Liam Guise, Cody Silvers, and Gabe Gentry finished fourth in 56.80. Winning the 4x200-meter relay in 1:46.50 was Aiden Porter, Hayden Miller, Henry Eubanks, and Jaxon Mefford. Getting a win in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:53.43 was Cody Silvers, Cael Silvers, Ryann Hammes, and Jaxon Mefford. The 4x800-meter relay team of Cody Silvers, Cael Silvers, William Daniels, and Conor Cloyd won in 10:03.97.
Winning the high jump was Johnathan Jacobs with a jump of 5-02. Johnathan Delaney placed second in the discus throw with a throw of 86-03 and Jonah Breon finished third with a throw of 78-10. In the shot put, Johnathan Delaney finished fourth with a throw of 30-01.50 and Jonah Breon finished sixth with a throw of 27-06.
