Pekin’s High School Volleyball team started the 2025 season at the WACO Tournament on Monday, Aug. 25.
The Panthers got a win over WACO 2-0 (21-16, 21-18), and lost to Van Buren County 0-2 (9-21, 9-21) and Centerville 1-2 (21-15, 17-21, 6-15).
In Pekin’s win over WACO, Carlie Gambell had 14 assists, while Payten Colemen and Paislee Coleman each had one.
Paislee Coleman had seven kills, Taylor Moore five, and Reece Brisby three.
Payten Coleman had five digs, Carlie Gambell and Reece Brisby each had three, and Katelynn Schultz had two.
In serving, Payten Coleman was 5 of 6 with two aces, Carlie Gambell was 10 of 11 with an ace, Katelynn Schultz was 6 of 7 with an ace and Ezra Parsons was 4 of 5 with an ace. Reece Brisby went 7 of 7 and Paislee Coleman was 4 of 4.
