May. 2, 2024 2:05 pm
Izabella Earnest is in the spotlight this week. She is the daughter of Dan and Amber Earnest. Her siblings include Kenzie, Aaron, Leaha, Chase, Gabbi, Jordyn, Cole, Rylie, Lexa, Bree, and Cutler.
While in school Bella has been involved in Band, Choir, Speech, Theater, Honor Band and Choir, Quiz Bowl, FCCLA, iSTEP, National Honor Society, Track, Cross Country, Jazz Band, and Winter Drumline. She also works at Pigtail Charlie’s Diner in Hedrick.
What’s your favorite school memory/OR what will you remember the most: Playing Belle in the school's Beauty and the Beast. We made so many fun memories and it was by far my favorite performance I've been a part of.
If you could go back and change one thing, what would it be: Join more activities freshman year. I didn't start very many until sophomore year and I think having a head start would have helped.
Finish this sentence: “I could not live without…” A creative outlet.
What’s the best and/or worst thing about being a senior: Best part of being a senior is having the experience to have an idea of what you want to do later in life. Worst part of being a senior is knowing that it'll be your last chance to try a lot of things before you're an adult and/or are out of school.
Which teacher or staff member has had the biggest impact on you and why: She doesn't teach at Pekin anymore, but Mrs. Barnard. It was really helpful to have someone who encouraged me to write and share my ideas, especially when I was shy and hadn't grown into my skills or interests yet. I'll always be thankful for that.
Advice to incoming high school freshmen: Everyone says this but JOIN ACTIVITIES. If you don't like them, you can always quit, but you can't go back in time and join them if you missed an opportunity. Stay inspired and do what you enjoy.
What are your plans after graduation: To attend Indian Hills, possibly for Literature Education or Writing. I also plan to be involved in their fine arts programs.
What is one outrageous thing you want to try in your lifetime: Going camping/backpacking in Europe.
If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go AND why: The wilderness somewhere in Oregon. It's always been a childhood dream of mine to go camping or visit there. I love being out in nature.
Who has been your biggest influence AND why: My parents. They're hard working and have always been there.
