Pekin senior Lexi Swearingen

Pekin graduate Lexi Swearingen is in the spotlight this week. She is the daughter of Todd and Michelle Swearingen. Her siblings include Caylee, Hunter, McKenna, and Teagan.
While in school Lexi was involved in FCA, FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, Ruritans, 4-H, County Council, Spanish Club, Track, Cross Country, National Honor Society, Cross-age mentoring, and Ottumwa Youth Legacy Alliance. She has also worked at Brother’s Market in Sigourney.
What's your favorite school memory/OR what will you remember the most? My favorite memory was playing powder puff football my senior year.
If you could go back and change one thing, what would it be? If I could go back and change one thing it would be to take more college classes.

What's the best and/or worst thing about being a senior? The best thing about being a senior is being able to graduate and go out into the real world. The worst thing about being a senior is knowing I won't be able to see my friends as much.
Which teacher or staff member has had the biggest impact on you and why? Mr. Weber has had the biggest impact on me because he always continues to push me to do the best that I can do even when I think that I can’t do it. This has also helped me with my athletics and academics.
Advice to incoming high school freshmen: Get involved in clubs early and respect your classmates and teachers.
What are your plans after graduation? My plans after graduation are to attend Central College to major in business management with an emphasis in marketing.
What is one outrageous thing you want to try in your lifetime? Run a marathon.
If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go AND why? I would move to Italy because it has a lot of history and they have really good food.
Who has been your biggest influence AND why? My biggest influence has been my oldest sister Caylee because she is always there for me when I am overwhelmed with school or just need to talk and has always supported and pushed me to do the best I can.
