Pekin senior Lilly Reneker
Apr. 13, 2023 10:34 am
Lilly Reneker is a senior in the spotlight this week. She is the daughter of Scott and Terri Reneker, and has one sister, Sabrina.
While in school she was involved in cross country, basketball, track, softball, band, choir, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and National Honor Society. She also worked at pet sitting and babysitting.
What’s your favorite school memory or what will you remember the most? I have really enjoyed participating in sports and will always remember the friendships, experiences, and lessons learned.
If you could go back and change one thing, what would it be? I would take more college classes my freshman and sophomore year.
Finish this sentence: “I could not live without …” my family. I would not be where I am today without them.
What’s the best and/or worst thing about being a senior? The best thing about being a senior is focusing on your future career and planning for college. It’s exciting.
Which teacher or staff member has had the biggest impact on you and why? Davis Eidahl has had the biggest impact on me because not only has he been my teacher but he has been my coach in basketball, track, and cross country. He has always pushed his athletes to be the best that they can be.
What advice do you have for incoming high school freshmen? Just be yourself and don't let anyone tell you that you can't accomplish something.
What are your plans after graduation? My plans are to attend Indian Hills for nursing and then transfer to the University of Iowa online bachelor's program. I plan to work as a CNA in the hospital this summer and during college. My ultimate goal is to work in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit).
What is one outrageous thing you want to try in your lifetime? I would love to go to a third world country on a mission trip working as a nurse.
If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? I have been lucky to have already traveled to many different countries and that helped me realize how great it is here. I would personally want to stay in Iowa, to be close to my family. I want to move closer to Des Moines where I can work in the NICU.
Who has been your biggest influence in your life and why? I can't pick just one person. I would have to choose my parents and grandparents. They have all taught me how to be responsible and to hold myself to high standards.
