May. 16, 2024 5:12 pm
A Pekin senior in the spotlight this week is Noah Lucas. He is the son of Danny and Darcy Keasling. He has a brother, Xavier, and a sister, Hannah.
While in school Noah participated in track. He also worked at Vision Ag, Walgreens, and Bp.
What's your favorite school memory/OR what will you remember the most? Hanging out with the same people at school at lunch, and going to the office to constantly talk to Christy.
If you could go back and change one thing, what would it be? Participate more in extra school activities, including sports.
Finish this sentence: "I could not live without..." Dr Pepper.
What's the best and/or worst thing about being a senior? The best thing about being a senior is that I will be graduating soon, and I’ll be able to start the next chapter of my life. The worst thing about being a senior is that many of the people I’m graduating with are moving on with their lives and I probably won’t see most of them after graduation.
Which teacher or staff member has had the biggest impact on you and why? Jarhett Vanengelenhoven. He is super supportive and is always there to listen. Overall wonderful man and doesn’t judge.
Advice to incoming high school freshmen: Stay on top of your work, and get your community service done so you’re not stressing last minute to get them done.
What are your plans after graduation? After graduation, I plan on enlisting in the Air Force. While in, I can get my Associate Degree through the military. I then plan to go to school at the University of Iowa to finish my education and get a Master’s Degree. I want to major in Observational Astronomy that hopefully helps me get into NASA someday.
What is one outrageous thing you want to try in your lifetime? Fly into Sagittarius A.
If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go AND why? I would love to move to Brazil. It’s a very beautiful place with lots of extremely nice people and great views on a daily basis.
Who has been your biggest influence AND why? My biggest influence has been my brother. I’ve looked up to Xavier for as long as I can remember because he is extremely talented. He knows a lot of real-life skills and is always there for me. My brother is my best friend and has been for a long time.
Noah had these additional thoughts, “I think Pekin is an excellent school. It is filled with great teachers and students. I also think that the four-day week schedule would not only benefit students, but also give teachers an extra day to grade.”
