Pekin speech members travel to state competition

Pekin’s speech team had three entries at the state competition held at Cedar Rapids Washington High School.

Representing Pekin in Musical Theater were Bella Earnest and Alisia Brock. They received a Division I rating, with each of the three judges awarding them a I, for their performance “End of the Line” from the musical The Theory of Relativity.

Ayla Banes received a Division I rating for her solo mime performance “Bubble Trouble.”

JT Spray and Anna Hadley received a Division II rating for their group improv performance.

Upcoming speech contest dates for Pekin are: Feb. 18, Group Speech All-State at ISU. Feb. 25, District Individual Speech at Cedar Rapids Xavier High School. March 11, State Individual Speech at North Scott High School in Eldridge. March 27, Individual Speech All-State at ISU.
