Pekin teams compete in Davis County’s Dennis Anderson Coed Relays

The Pekin track teams traveled to Bloomfield last Friday, April 14 to compete in the Dennis Anderson Coed Relays.
After finishing first to Davis County’s second in the Pekin-hosted girls’ meet on Thursday, host Davis County won Friday night with 168 points while Pekin finished second with 150. Cardinal again finished third with 95 points. Albia was fourth with 78, Centerville took fifth with 42, Moravia was sixth with 32, Seymour was seventh with 17, and Moulton-Udell was eighth with two.
In individual track events, Lauren Steigleder had the only Pekin win, taking the 800-meter run in 2:32.64. Second place finishes were from Claire Roth in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.46, Brooke Miller in the 1500-meter run in 5:37.23, and Lauren Steigleder in the 3000-meter run in 12:29.58. Chloe Glosser finished third in the 1500-meter run in 5:37.26. Alex Parsons finished fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:45.44, Renae Eubanks finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.02 and fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:24.18.
The 4x800 relay team of Chloe Glosser, Brooke Miller, Alex Parsons, and Audrey Fariss won with a time of 10:39.26. The distance medley team of Chloe Glosser, Audrey Fariss, Sabrina Reneker, and Lilly Reneker won in 4:39.14. Pekin’s throwers relay team won their 4x101 in 1:00.17. Pekin’s 4x400 relay team of Chloe Glosser, Sabrina Reneker, Claire Roth, and Audrey Fariss finished second in 4:24.68; and the shuttle hurdle team of Renae Eubanks, Payten Coleman, Kayse Miller, and Abbe Guise finished second in 1:17.80. Lauren Conklin, Lilly Reneker, Claire Roth, and Sabrina Reneker finished third in the sprint medley relay in 1:59.91. The 4x200 relay team finished third in 2:05.61; and the 4x100 relay team finished fourth in 56.10.
Anna Hadley won the shot put with a throw of 37-00 and the discus with a throw of 120-01. Emma Phillips finished third in the discus with a throw of 100-04 and fifth in the shot put with a throw of 30-01. Claire Roth finished second in the long jump with a jump of 15-10, and Kayse Miller finished third in the high jump with a jump of 4-08.
In the boys’ side of the Dennis Anderson Relays, Pekin finished fourth with 72. Host Davis County won with 135, while Cardinal was second with 122 and Eddyville-Blakesburg, Fremont was third with 116. Moravia finished fifth with 60, Albia was sixth with 39, Seymour was seventh with 33, and Moulton-Udell finished eighth with 4.
Brady McWhirter earned Pekin’s only wins of the meet, taking the 800-meter run in 2:06.78 and the 1600-meter run in 4:54.19. McWhirter finished third in the 3200-meter run in 12:10.45. JaeDon Wolver placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.97, and fourth in the 100-meter dash in 12.04.
Pekin’s distance medley team took second with a time of 4:02.19; and the shuttle hurdle team finished second in 1:07.29. Fourth-place relay finishes came in the 4x400 relay in 3:47.78 and the sprint medley in 1:45.78.
In field events, JaeDon Wolver finished fourth in the high jump with a jump of 5-10, and Will Adam finished sixth in the long jump with a jump of 17-09.
