Pekin track teams compete in Davis County coed meet

Both Pekin track teams traveled to Davis County last Friday, April 12 to compete in the Dennis Anderson Coed Relays. Both teams finished second in points, with the girls’ team having 143 points to Davis County’s first place finish with 176. The boys’ team finished with 142, 23 points behind first-place Davis County.

The Panther girls had first place finishes from their distance medley team with a time of 4:50.37 and their shuttle hurdle team in 1:15.28. They had three wins in field events, with Kayse Miller taking first in the high jump with a jump of 5-00, and Anna Hadley winning both the shot put (36-02) and the discus (122-04).

Second place finishes came from Chloe Glosser in the 1500m run in 5:07.77 and Lauren Steigleder in the 3000m run in in 12:53.50; as well as the 4x800 relay team in 10:52.47 and the sprint medley team in 2:05.92.

For the boys’ events, Brady McWhirter won both the 1600m run (4:47.63) and the 3200m run (10:00.90), and JaeDon Wolver won the 400m hurdles in 58.07. Pekin’s shuttle hurdle team won with a time of 1:04.36, and Alijah Brock won the long jump with a jump of 18-11.

Brody Sobaski finished second in the 400m dash with a time of 53.40, and Kasey Davis took second in the 110m hurdles in 16.29. JaeDon Wolver finished second in the high jump with a jump of 5-10, and the 4x800 relay took second in 9:20.22.
