Pekin wrestling teams compete in L&M tournament

The Pekin girls’ wrestling team competed in the L&M wrestling tournament on Saturday, Jan. 25. The Panthers finished 11th as a team.
Hailey Pedrick took home a second-place finish at 140. Her wins for the day included wining by fall in 0:19 over Davenport’s Madison Belz, winning by fall in 0:43 over Isabella Moedano of L&M, and winning by fall in 3:56 over Washington’s Ryha Wellington.
Lila Miller placed sixth at 135. Miller had wins over Lila Keister of Clinton by fall in 0:15 and over Muscatine’s Cheyenne Mosier by fall in 0:53 before having to forfeit the fifth place match.
Rylee Frye placed sixth at 235. She had a win in the tournament over Kalena Noa of Assumption, Davenport by fall in 3:49.
Harper Guise had a seventh-place finish at 130 after winning by fall in 1:56 over Izzie Droege of Keokuk and winning by fall in 1:28 over Pekin’s Ivory Small.
Bree Earnest, Ivory Small, and Ella Rose each finished eighth.
Pekin’s boys’ wrestlers competed in the L&M varsity wrestling tournament on Saturday, Jan. 25.
Zachary Doud got a third-place finish at 138. Doud won by fall in 3:07 over Kaimrin Ellingson of Van Buren County in round 1. In round 3 Doud won by fall in 2:39 over Wesley Scott of Wilton, and in round 5 he got a win by fall in 0:43 over Hunter Dieckman.
Henry Adam placed third at 165. Adam had a win by fall in 0:50 over Van Buren County’s Mason Boyer in the quarterfinals. In the third place match, Adam won by fall in 0:51 over Owen Difederico of Burlington.
Jonah Breon placed fourth at 285, Cael Silvers placed sixth at 120, and Landon Crow finished seventh at 157.
