4-H members from Washington, Iowa Johnson, and Keokuk Counties in 4th-7th grade are invited to participate in Pork Pioneers: Discovering the Swine Industry, a hands-on workshop designed to explore the world of pigs from farm to fork. This new educational event will take place on March 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Dallmeyer Hall on the Washington County Fairgrounds. The workshop is open to Washington, Iowa, Johnson, and Keokuk County 4-H members in 4th-7th grade, with 8th-12th graders welcome to volunteer as group leaders.
Participants will learn about swine nutrition, health, biosecurity, pork meat cuts, food safety, and cooking techniques through hands-on activities and expert-led discussions.
Whether new to 4-H or an experienced member, this workshop will provide a fun and educational experience to deepen your knowledge of the pork industry.
Thanks to generous support from the Washington County Pork Producers, the event is free for Washington County 4-H members. Participants from Iowa, Johnson, and Keokuk counties can attend for a $15 fee, payable to their local 4-H office.
