Register for Preserve the Taste of Summer workshop

Locals can learn how to “Preserve the Taste of Summer” during a hands-on workshop from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Keokuk County. The Preserve the Taste of Summer: Salsa Making workshop is planned for Saturday, July 30 at the Sigourney High School, 907 E. Pleasant Valley St., Sigourney. The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
“Preserve the Taste of Summer provides the most current USDA-approved food preservation recommendations,” said Sara Sprouse, a human sciences specialist in nutrition and wellness with ISU Extension and Outreach, “during the workshop, salsa will be safely preserved using the hot water bath canning method and each participant will take home a jar.”
The registration fee is $35. It is requested that those interested register early due to limited space in the workshop. Registration will close on July 22 or when the class is full. Online registration can be completed at https://go.iastate.edu/9U6JJJ.
