‘Mad Science’ at the Richland Public Library!
On Tuesday, June 4, a ‘mad’ scientist from Absolute Science came to visit the Richland Public Library! His motto is “Science is Fun!” and it sure was! We had beakers bubbling over with colorful liquids, a Van de Graaff generator that made a “fountain” of Rice Krispies and tossed pie tins into the air and a tank of oil into which glass beakers and test tubes disappeared!
Five members of the audience were invited to become temporary ‘mad’ scientists with lab coats, gloves and safety glasses. Their experiment produced beakers of overflowing foam of various colors. The audience was great and hopeful everyone learned something new from the program. And don’t forget …. science is fun!
Richland Public Library’s Eco-Tots!
Emily Belvel from the Keokuk County Extension Service visited our youngest patrons on Wednesday, June 5.
She brought fun projects for the kids to make including a toilet-paper tube snake the kids could color and add eyes to as well as a monster that grows grass “hair” when watered.
