SIGOURNEY — The Keokuk County Extension and Outreach will be handing out Safety First Harvest Buckets again this year. For 3 years, we have put together and delivered safety first harvest buckets to nominated Keokuk County farmers. The buckets contain a variety of different items including but not limited to the red ISU Extension branded 5-gallon bucket, safety glasses, ear plugs, working gloves, self-adhesive reflectors, water, granola bars, and more.
“The ultimate goal for these buckets is to bring awareness to stress and farm safety during the harvest season. In addition to the items mentioned, we also include educational information on how to handle stress during the farming seasons and mental health guidance,” said Kelly Albert, Keokuk County Extension and Outreach County Director.
Last year we were able to deliver 96 buckets to farmers all across Keokuk County, which means we were able to give useful, relevant, and reliable information to those 96 people about combating stress and what to do when mental health issues arise.
