PACKWOOD — Sen. Adrian Dickey, R-Packwood, has announced his run for re-election in Senate District 44, which covers Keokuk, Jefferson, and Van Buren counties, as well as parts of Henry and Mahaska counties.
“Since being elected in 2021, I have been so proud of the accomplishments we’ve had in the legislature and the progress we have made,” said Sen. Dickey. “This last year alone, we passed legislation to put parents first when it comes to their child’s education, implemented common-sense tort reforms, made government smaller and smarter to better serve taxpayers, and helped address the workforce challenges in Iowa.”
“We also heard the concerns of Iowans everywhere and passed major property tax reform to help control the growth of property taxes and provide relief to Iowans who need it. As the chair of the Workforce Committee in the Iowa Senate, I was proud to pass legislation to give more opportunities to teenagers for work, get more hands-on experience, and help prepare Iowans for their futures. I have been humbled to represent my constituents in the Iowa Senate, and I know there is more I can do to stand up for them and make sure their voices are heard.”
Sen. Dickey is currently the chair of the Workforce Committee, the vice chair of the Transportation Committee, the vice chair of the Economic Development Appropriations Subcommittee, and also serves on the Commerce and the Ways and Means committees.
Sen. Dickey is a father and a lifelong Packwood resident. He earned a Bachelor of Technology degree with magna cum laude honors, graduating in just three years from the University of Northern Iowa.
He has worked in the family business his grandfather started in 1959 since he was 13. Upon graduation from UNI, he accepted a full-time position at Dickey Transport where he progressed throughout his time there, eventually becoming the president.
Sen. Dickey was formerly the Chairman of the Board of the Iowa Motor Truck Association. He also has been a member of several local groups and boards, including as a board member and past president of the Jefferson County Hospital Foundation (2004-2013), a member of the Iowa Firefighters Association for 32 years, and an officer and member of the Packwood Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department (1992- present).
Sen. Dickey is a past parish council member and active in Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Fairfield.
