Students attend Iowa Youth Institute

Lilian Buie, Hailey Pedrick, and Alyvia Traner each wrote a World Food Prize paper for the Iowa Youth Institute that was held on Iowa State University’s campus on Saturday, April 24. The IYI is held at Iowa State University each year with students from across the state attending. Each student attending has selected a country and food insecurity topic to research, write a paper, and present to a panel of peers and experts about the issue with their proposed solutions. Each student is also awarded a $1,000 scholarship to ISU.

The students also had the opportunity to hear Former Governor Branstad, Iowa Sec. of Ag Mike Naig, and ISU President Wendy Winterstein speak at the event. This was a great opportunity for student to network and begin to think about agriculture on a more global level.
