In the spotlight is Pekin graduate Tory Burk. She is the daughter of Raquel Smith and Nathan Burk. Her siblings are Lee Winn and Mia Smith.
While in school Tory was involved in Choir.
What’s your favorite school memory or what will you remember the most? One thing I will always remember the most from school would be meeting my best friend in sixth grade. I will always remember how we met, and what we talked about.
If you could go back and change one thing, what would it be? If I could go back and change one thing, it would be getting involved with more activities while in school.
Finish this sentence: “I could not live without…” I could not live without my family.
What’s the best and/or worst thing about being a senior? The best thing about being a senior is having more freedom and the worst thing about being a senior is having to come to school.
Which teacher or staff member has had the biggest impact on you and why? Mrs. Wittrock and Mrs. Wright have had the biggest impact on me because they always helped me when I needed help and have always made me feel heard.
Advice to incoming high school freshmen: Freshmen should focus on their classes and credits so they can enjoy their last years of high school without worrying about graduating because time moves in a blink of an eye.
What are your plans after graduation? My plans for after graduation are to take some time to myself and then to start working and saving money.
What is one outrageous thing you want to try in your lifetime? One crazy thing I would want to do in my life would be to go bungee jumping or fly an airplane.
If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? If I could go anywhere in the world it would be Montana because it looks so beautiful there.
Who has been your biggest influence in your life and why? The biggest influence in my life has been my grandma because she always has something wise and loving to tell me. She always has advice when I need it and she has always made me feel like I am doing a good job.
