Trunk or Treat and soup supper held in Richland

Richland’s Trunk or Treat was held last Saturday evening, October 28. The event was hosted by the Richland Community Club and the Pekin FFA.
There were 23 trunks for trick-or-treaters to visit, as well as hot dogs and games in the shelter to enjoy. Hailey Pedrick, Pekin FFA, did extensive work on the activities and helped organize the event. Pedrick, along with FFA members Zach Doud, Oakley Elliot, Carley Clarahan, Kasey Davis, Aydin Smith, Alyvia Traner, and Gabe Ragen, decorated the shelter, ran the games and served food to the kids.
Jerry Hoover set up the sound system and ran the music. Thanks to Steve Greiner of Packwood, Fairfield Hy-Vee, Washington McDonalds, Federation Bank, Gas and Goodies, and Bennett Ag and Research for all their donations.
Trunks included Robin Steen, Flo’s Tots, Sines Plumbing, Servpro, Jefferson County Health Center Richland Clinic, Trinity Friends Church Afterschool Program, Cranston Family Funeral Home, River Hills Clinic, Hinshaw Trailer Sales, Frogtown Ladies Coffee Group, Richland Public Library, BTS Sanitation, Eden Greiner, Jackson Bender and Trinity Friends Youth Group, Temp Associates, Packwood Trojans 4-H Club, Optimae Services, Scooters Coffee, Farmtel, Mike’s Parts and Service, Keokuk County Ambulance Service, Richland Fire Department, and the Richland First Responders.
Prizes awarded were Robin Steen, Best Costume; BTS Sanitation, Most Unique; Jefferson County Health Center Richland Clinic, Most Interactive; Cranston Family Funeral Home, Scariest Trunk; Mike’s Parts and Service, Best Overall Trunk.
The Richland Fire Department also had a soup supper at the fire station that evening beginning at 5 p.m. They sold 36 gallons of soup within an hour and a half.
