Washington County 4-H members involved in the beef project area are encouraged to attend the Beef Feed Workshop Dec. 5 from 7 — 8 p.m. at Dallmeyer Hall on the fairgrounds in Washington. This workshop is hosted in partnership with the Washington County Cattlemen to support their county fair Single Source Steer class.
This will be an educational presentation and learning opportunity for all beef project members and their parents are encouraged to attend as well. The evening will be led by Craig Beinhart as the Kent Feeds Territory Sales Representative. Topics will include: the beef ruminant digestive system, feed nutrients and how they affect the animal, feedstuff selections, economic and performance evaluation, feeding guidelines and more. This timeline allows 4-Hers to learn and set goals going into the start of their market beef projects this winter but also provides background for breeding heifer plans as well. Free to attend. Door prizes will be included at the end of the evening.
