Washington Co. 4-H Winter Project Extravaganza Workshops open for Registration

The goal of the Washington County 4-H Project Extravaganza days are to give 4-H members a variety of options for hands-on learning, experiencing, creating and fun with other 4-H members under leadership of community businesses, experts, and volunteers.
Depending on details of each workshop, majority are open to any 4-H members 4th grade and older. Each participant brings in their own level of experiences and is able to apply that to these project areas. Check them out and get registered today.
Online preregistration is required by Dec 2. Limited space is available for some workshops and filled on a first come, first serve basis. Registration links for each workshop are available in the descriptions below. The fees for service will be used to offset direct expenses and to support the Washington County 4-H Youth Development Program. Notice each workshop has a low fee thanks to generous to support from the Big 4-H Lucky Clover Raffle proceeds of 2024.
Introduction to Welding at Kirkwood Regional Center in Washington
Participants will learn about the welding lab, basic safety and weld techniques. They will create their own horse shoe reindeer. Participants must be 5th -12th grade 4-H members. This workshop will held at Kirkwood Regional Center in Washington and led by a Kirkwood instructor. $20 fee. Workshop is Dec. 7 from 9 a.m.-noon. Register by Dec. 2 at https://tinyurl.com/4hwelding24
Chalk Block Workshop
Dive into the Child Development Project Area learning about toys appropriate for all ages & stages. This workshop will provide all the resources and experiences for a Child Development exhibit at the county fair. The focus will be on pretend play with blocks. Participants will make set of chalk blocks to donate to local daycare and will make a set for themselves to have for babysitting jobs or young children at home. Participants will Learn from observation of kids in playtime, take a tour of local daycare seeing the ages & stages in action. $10 fee. Workshop is Dec. 7 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Extension Office in Washington. The workshop is led by Lisa Clark of Family Connections. Register by Dec. 2 at https://tinyurl.com/4hpie23
Paint the Winter Night
Participants will create an 16” x 20” winter scene on canvas. They will learn color mixing and blending and creating movement with a medium. Open to 4th-12th grade 4-H members. $20 fee. Youth are encouraged to participate and learn through these hands-on experiences to boost knowledge and spark new project interests while having a good time, creating, and building upon skills.
