Jun. 27, 2024 8:02 pm
All 4-H Garden project members and prospective Washington County Fair Garden exhibitors are invited to attend a meeting on Saturday, July 6 to learn how to prepare garden produce and flowers for the fair. This meeting will be held at noon at the Washington County Extension Office. Members are encouraged to bring some produce samples to use as an example, if they have them. The superintendent will be present to answer questions and review fair preparations, forms and sign ups. This meeting is free for youth exhibitors to attend. Parents are encouraged to attend.
New for the 2024 year with garden crops and single cut flower exhibits, youth should complete the “Garden Department Record” for each entry. Any house plant exhibits should have the completed “House Plant Record” for each entry. These are available at https://www.extension.iastate.edu/washington/county-fair under the Non-livestock/Static Exhibit tab.
4-H members planning to exhibit fresh produce at the Washington County Fair must have those projects preregistered by July 10 to http://washingtoncounty.fairentry.com. Garden judging will be held only on Friday, July 12 from 3pm-6pm in the basement of Dallmeyer Hall. All other non-livestock projects will be judged on Saturday, July 13.
