140 Washington County 4-H and Clover kid members, parents, volunteers and Extension staff enjoyed a day of celebrating the end of county fair and summer with a day trip to the Beach Ottumwa on Aug. 1. This swim trip was a reward for 4-Hers who sold the goal of five Big Lucky Clover Raffle tickets this spring. Other 4-Hers and family were invited to join the fun.
“We wanted to treat our members with something special and knew that some of the best 4-H memories are not about awards or gifts but are made with time spent together,” said Amy Green, Washington County 4-H & Youth Coordinator. “Our raffle committee was excited to brainstorm day trip options for us all to spend time together. The day went perfectly for our trip and we are already excited about what could be next year!”
4-H members are now busy finalizing projects for the Iowa State Fair and competing their 2021-2022 4-H record books. The new 4-H year starts Sept. 15. Clover kids is a program offered for kindergarten-third grade and 4-H Clubs are open to 4th grade and above. Contact the Washington County Extension Office for more information, 319-653-4811.
