Edward “Bud” C. Schantz, age 81, formerly of Wayland, died April 16 in Missouri.

Shannon Rae Swindler, age 18, of Wayland, died April 18 at Washington Hospital.

Larry Meyer of Wayland was honored by Pioneer Hi-Bred. He won the local corn yield contest sponsored by the Wayland Lions Club.

Mrs. Laura Crawford, age 102, a long-time resident of Olds, died April 19, 1985.

1970

Ken Roth, Teresa Kauffman, Larry Hirschy, and Pat Wintermeyer escaped with only minor injuries when the car they were in hit heavy water during a rainstorm, pulling the vehicle off the road and into a ditch.

Debra Ann Roth received her Nurse’s Cap at St. Luke’s ceremony April 15.
