Erika Leichty, WACO senior, was recognized by Gov. Terry Brandstad for outstanding academic achievement at the Thirteenth Annual Governor’s Scholar Recognition Ceremony April 26 in Des Moines.
2005
Sylvia Graber, Family Nurse Practitioner, is the new face at the medical clinics in Wayland and Winfield. Sylvia is the granddaughter of Merle and Verla (Wagler) Conrad, former Wayland area residents.
Michelle Reid and Tim Meyer, both of Wayland, have announced their engagement and approaching marriage.
Nathan and Janet Conrad are the parents of a daughter, Makenna Lynne, on April 27.
2000
Lauren Rich was named 1999 Fireman of the Year at the Wayland Fire Dept. Banquet. Ron Mast received a 10-year pin. Wilma Leichty received a plaque in behalf of her husband, Dallas, who was killed in an accident April 19, 1999.

Jeanine Shelman and Doug Ward will be married May 26.
1985
A break-in was reported at Richard Oil Company. Taken were a TV, candy, pop, and a small amount of change. A car owned by Gary L. Conrad, left at the station for repairs, was also taken. The car was later found at North Hill Cemetery, where it had been extensively vandalized and abandoned.
Kathryn Lorraine Rhoades and Melvin Dewin Stauffer were married April 20, 1985.

Mrs. W.L. McMickle received painful jaw lacerations when struck by a piece of wood thrown by a lawn mower.
