1998
•A 1983 pickup truck driven by Shane T. Gier, 23, of Wayland, hit a cow in the road about 10:30 p.m. May 28 near Wayland. The cow was owned by Daniel D. Wenger of Wayland.
•Marion Leichty returned to her home from Texas, where she helped daughter, Christine Leichty get settled in her home in Carrollton, a suburb of Dallas.
•Vivian Hildebrand accompanied her daughter, Mrs. David Grimes, New London, to Williamsburg, where they attended tehwedding of Hildebrand’s niece, Beth Barton and Raymond Craig.
•Edwin and Lucille Swartzendruber, along with their daughter, Donna Swartzendruber, hosted breakfast on June 7 in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
•Beulah Osborne, Cheryl and Jimmie Addison, and Dan and Michelle Crawford attended the second birthday of Myra Lynn Howard in Chicago, Illinois.
2003
•The Farmers & Merchants Mutual Telephone Co. celebrated it’s 65th anniversary on June 12, 2003. A crowd of approximately 600 enjoyed a delicious meal and evening of visiting at the open house.
•Twenty-three descendants of John and Minnie Mann gathered at the Wayland Community Building for a potluck dinner.
•The Wayland Lions Club will sponsor a day of activity for the Fourth of July in Wayland. This includes a pancake breakfast and antique tractor show.
•Lois Graber has returned to her Wayland home from a trip to Seattle, Washington, where she visited her son, John, Lynne, and Nick.
•Wayland United Methodist Women met June 12. It was announced that Bible school will be held the second Sunday of the next four months, from 4-6 p.m.

•The Reschly reunion is scheduled for the weekend of June 21 and 22 at the Brazelton Motel in Mt. Pleasant
•Barn Quilts of Washington County will host the unveiling of the Liberty Loop Barn Quilts at the farm of Brian and Kim Coleman, on Wayland Road.
•Eldon Duane Wyse, 82, of Wayland, died Monday, June 2, 2008 at Parkview home in Wayland.
•The Merry Eights Pinochle Club met with hostess Virginia Soto. Ellen Clark was a guest. The high was won be Linda Groff and the low by Audrey Kauffman.
•Mikaela Grimm received a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, Virginia. She is the daughter of Billie and Kathie Grimm.
2013
•Don Wyse Boshart, 78, passed away at Parkview Home in Wayland on Saturday, June 22, after a short battle with cancer.
•The annual reunion of relatives of the John/Bertha (Christner) Hill family will be held Sunday, June 9, at the Wayland Community Center.
•William “Bill” F. Freyenberger, 98, of Wayland, died Tuesday, June 4, at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
•The Sunbeams Daycare children visited the Parkview Home.
•Jody Brown, a Parkview staff member, offered a painting class. Residents enjoyed painting on rocks. The rocks were then sealed and placed in the flower gardens.
