1993
•Fire badly damaged the Charles Scott home in Wayland. Three nieces and nephews, who were visiting in the Scott home, ran to the Imogene Roth home for help.
•Keith and Jean Walters renewed their wedding vows at their home Friday evening, July 16. They will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary Dec. 28, 1993.
•Mr. and Mrs. Warren Schlatter, accompanied by Mary Marner and Jocelyn of Kalona, spent time in Panora, Ohio, as guests of their daughter and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Sommer and family.
•Leola Crandall, who had been recuperating in the home of her son, Dick and Mary Schlatter, for three and a half weeks returned home Friday.
1998
•Emily Shepherd, nine, and Isaac Staufffer, nine, both of Wayland, will be performing at the Iowa State Fair August 16. They will be dancing their tap duet, Dixieland Jazz.
•Four generations of the Riley family held a reunion in the Wayland Community Hall on Saturday, July 18. The highlight of the reunion was a surprise birthday celebration for Ruth Riley of Dexter, Kansas. Ruth was 84 the day of the reunion.
•Lois Anne Boshart and Richard Gray were married at the home of the bride in Washington on Saturday, August 1.
•Hom and Yen Lovan purchased the Catherine Richard property in Wayland at public auction for $41, 500.
•The Sugar Creek Mennonite Church congregation has chosen Arline Roth to serve as Elder for the next three years.
2003
•Stephany Shumaker and Tony Messer, both of West Des Moines, were united in Marriage June 14. Stephany is the daughter of Steve and Sue Shumaker of Danville, Tony is the son of Gene and Darla Messer of Wayland.
•Rob and Jennifer Wells of Craig, Colorado spent the week of July 13 visiting grandparents Don and Mary rich of Wayland and Vivian Wells of Washington.
•Wayland Area Antique Tractor Club took their annual ride to Hamilton, Illinois and the Western Illinois Threshers Show, on July 31.
•Richard Oil Company has a new sign and canopy displaying their affiliation with Phillips 66. They were the first in the nation to receive the new image on the Phillips 66 signs and canopies.
2008
•The 20th Peter E. Boshart Reunion was held July 20 at the Sugar Creek Fellowship Hall with 37 present. The Lydia Boshart Seberg descendants acted as hosts for the day.
•Seventeen tractors, representing the Wayland Area Antique Tractor Club, left early July 31 for their annual trek to Hamilton, Illinois.
•The Cottonwood United Methodist Women met at Parkview Home July 28. A gift card will be sent to Dolores McGuire for her cataract surgery, and the Cottonwood prayer blanket has been given to Bonnie Edwards.
2013
•Esther Wagler Boshart, 91, formerly of the Wayland area, died Aug. 9, 2013.
•Ten members of the Class of 1951 of Wayland met at Sassy’s Restaurant in Wayland in June.
•Running for the WACO School Board are Tim Gerot, Director District, and Tim Graber, At-Large.
