Yesterday in Wayland

•With the school year and football season about to begin, WACO High School’s new school board was put in place at the football field in Wayland.

•Brenda Ann Parris and Russell David Wyse of Ames were married Aug. 7, 1993 at the Evangelical Free Church at Fort Dodge. Parents of the couple are Albert and Leanne Parris of Fort Dodge and Charles and Martha Wyse, Wayland.

•Kerri Alvine, 10-year-old daughter of Dwain and Chris Alvine, was proud to be selected as a Bill Riley State Fair Talent Sprout Champion on Friday, Aug. 27 at the Iowa State Fair.

1998

•Two WACO girls were selected as All-American Cheerleaders this summer at a camp held at WACO High School. Rachel Graber and Sara Scarff were chosen by the instructors from the American Cheerleading Federation.

•Alisha C. Bowen, age 9, daughter of Terry and Kim Grote, has been selected as a state finalist in the Miss Iowa American Coed Pageant to be held Sept. 5-7 in Des Moines.

•Elmer Schrock observed his birthday Sunday, and that evening cousins, Frand and Mary Hochstetler, Gene and Edna Miller, and Sam and Donna Hochstetler came to the Schrock home.

•Labor Day guests at the Everett and Marge Davison home were Brian and Juli Dahlquist of Long Beach, California, Cheryl Dahlquist of Keota, Andy and Brooke Dahlquist of Belle Plaine, John and Margene Erlenbush and Josh, and Christi and Jenna Sands all of Ainsworth.

•Roman Jacob Stotts was born Aug. 8, 2008, to Colette and Jake Stotts of Ankeny. Local grandparents are Mark and Susan Yutzy of Wayland. Clarence and Dorothy Wenger are great-grandparents.

•William Raefe Davison was born July 4, 2008 to Brittany and Ross Davison of Washington. Grandparents are Mark and Susan Yutzy, and Rollin and Laurie Davison, all of Wayland. Area great-grandparents are Clarence and Dorothy Wenger and Helen Davison of Wayland.
