•Incumbent mayor Johenry Mast is the only person who has filed for that position in Wayland. Loren Rich and Steve Alliman have filed paper for Councilmen of the City of Wayland.
•Friday, Sept. 10, the Wayland Fire Department was called to a barn fire on the Joe Freyenberger farm with minor damage to the roof.
•Mr. and Mrs. Robert Meyer, California, Missouri, were house guests in the Rex Sinn home a couple of days.
•Mr. and Mrs. Larry D. Roth visited their mother, Minnie Roth and their children in the area for several days. They were making the move from Colorado to Ohio.
1998
•Carol Turner, Coppock, has moved to the Way Mar Apartment complex and is employed at Parkview.
•Mr. and Mrs. Mike Richenberger of Mt. Prospect, Illinois were in Wayland Saturday and attended the Widmer auction.
•David Pomeroy submitted his resignation from the WACO board. He has started working for a manufacturing company in the Seattle area.

•The family of Emma Manning will be having a card shower for her 96th birthday on October 6.
•Rachel Wyse will celebrate her 80th birthday on Sept. 23 with a card shower.
•Friends, neighbors, and relatives are invited to drop in and visit with Dillon and Fern Graber and their family at the Retreat Lodge at Crooked Creek Christian Camp on October 1.

•Lidia Hinh and Denny Caraveo were crowned WACO Homecoming queen and king.
•Jerilyn Winga has been named the new Activities Director at Parkview Home.
2013
•WACO 2013 Homecoming court members are Jaelyn Unternahrer, Rosemary Skriver, Tympest Crawford, Dillon Michael Douglas, Jaden Chalupa, and Mitchell Edgar.
•Mr. and Mrs. David Sterba would like to announce the marriage of their son Joe Sterba to Brenda Rios.
