•The new Wayland City Hall is completed.
•Kenneth Clark was appointed to Farmers and Merchants Mutual Telephone Company board of directors, replacing Mel Clark who is moving to Arizona.
•Chris Miller, 30, and her two children Brody, 6, and Justin, 3, were injured in an automobile accident west of Mt. Pleasant. Brad Miller, 32, was treated and released.
1998
•Ruth Schlatter and LaVerne Graber were married October 10 at Eicher.
•Duwaine Hirschy observed his 70th birthday October 18.
•A remodeling project on the WACO elementary building at Crawfordsville is underway.
2003
•Dick and Frances Morrow are celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
•John Anthony Miller, 19, was injured while operating an ATV at the Bill Miller family farm.
•Heather Peitz and Ryan Myer announced their engagement and November 15, 2003 wedding plans.
2008
•Jim and Norma Meyer will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on October 25, 2008.
•The Wayland class of 1953 met at Jerry’s Restaurant for their 55th reunion.
2013
•October 15, 2013, the Wayland Lions celebrated their 55th anniversary.
•Hector and Lily Urbano, from Bogato, Columbia, were house guests at the Eldora Boshart home October 18 to 21. Hector was the foreign exchange student in 1973-1974.
•Pamela Savage, 56, was airlifted by Medforce to the University of Howa Hospitals and Clinics on October 18 after the vehicle she was driving left the roadway.
