•Omar W. Swartzendruber, 97, of Troy, Ohio, died November 3.
•The Wayland Fire Department was busy with a fire at Dale Widmer property occupied by the Charles Peterson family, a chicken house fire at the Bruce Eichelberger property, and a rescue unit call to the Gilbert Roth farm.

•Angela Unkrich won the district diving meet in Marshalltown on October 31.
•Sean and Kimberly Miller are the parents of a boy, Victor Frank, born Oct. 18

•Wayland Fire Department received $59,345 grant from FEMA.
•Amanda Hansen and Justin Fletcher announce their engagement and upcoming wedding plans for April, 1994.
•Jacob Stauffer, 33, died when thrown from the vehicle in which he was a passenger was in a rollover accident.

•WACO Warriors lost the final home game to North Mahaska, 42-13.
•Willard Leroy Reschly, 84, of Washington, died Oct. 31, 2008 at his home.

•The Wayland Fire Department held their annual pancake supper on Nov. 2, 2013.
•The Walmart foundation announced its 2013 Local Giving grant recipients. The Wayland Fire Department received $5000.
•Lindi McArtor and Zacherey Jepson have announced their engagement and upcoming Nov. 16 wedding.
•The WACO football team had to battle the pouring rain as well as the Lynnville-Sully team in the playoff game in Wayland on Oct. 30, 2013. WACO fell to Lynnville-Sully, 40-8.
