•Geraldine Richenberger attended competition of Sweet Adelines at International Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

•Adaline Elizabeth Tschantz, 88, died Nov. 5 at the Washington County Hospital.
•Jean Caboth was named Iowa Elementary Art Teacher of the year.
•Family of victor J. Hesseltine donated the elevator recently installed at the Cottonwood United Methodist Church.
2003
•Wayland has elected three new council members, Greg Rich, Kevin Fort, and Stacey Mast.
•Brandy Miler and Jason McArtor were married Sept. 6.
•John and LaVonne Hinkle will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 27.
2008
•A 2004 Ford truck, owned and operated by Daryn Dale Parker, 16, Wayland, was northbound on Frankin Ave. when he lost control, crossed the southbound lane, and entered the west ditch. The truck struck a field driveway and flipped onto its top.
•Joe Kaufman was named the Wayland Fireman of the Year at the annual pancake supper held Nov. 8, 2008.
•Ava Nadean Wagler was born Oct. 17, 2008 to Curt and Lori Wagler of Wayland.
2013
•Rosemary Skriver of WACO played in the Southeast Iowa All-Star Volleyball game.
•The Wayland Economic Development Corporation hosted the annual business appreciation dinner.
•The WACO School District has completed an Indoor Air Quality assessment for the elementary building in Crawfordsville. Areas of concern were carpeting and HVAC maintenance. These areas will be corrected over the Thanksgiving break.
