•WACO point guard, senior LeAnn Farmer, received award commemorating her one thousandth point as a high school player from Athletic Director and Basketball Coach, Howard Bean.

•B.J. and Jana Miller are the parents of a baby girl, Whitney Ranae, born Dec. 5, 1993.

•Todd M. Wolfe was named to the dean’s list at Southeastern Community College.

•Kathleen Kennel, daughter of Robert and Mildred Freyenberger, was named Teacher of the Year for Arnold Elementary, Jonesboro, Georgia.

•Lee Cornwell, age 90, died Jan. 14 at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.

•Roger Sheetz, age 74, died Jan. 7 at Whittier, California.

•Stacey Ann Thomas and Ross Lee Buffington have announced their engagement and upcoming Jan. 24, 2004, wedding plans.

•Dr. and Mrs. Jason Aird are the parents of a baby girl, Rachel Elizabeth, born Dec. 31, 2003.

•Edith Bebel, age 82, of Wayland, died Jan. 5, 2004, at Parkview Home.

•Dec. 1, 2008, brought a new pastor to the Eicher Mennonite Church, Rev. Larry Evers and his wife, Elva.

•Rev. Joseph Gleede Ricks, age 91, of Wayland, died Jan. 6, 2009, following a brief illness.

•Meriel Louise Benge, age 79, of Washington, died Jan. 6, 2009, in her residence after failing health for the past two months.

•Madden Ray Black was born Dec. 12, 2013 at the Henry County Health Center. Parents of the new baby boy are Michael and Katy Black of Wayland.

•A card shower was held to celebrate Elizabeth Troutman’s 80th birthday on January 16.
