•Drs. J.G. Widmer of Wayland and Harry Readinger of New London were honored at the Henry County Medical Society for each serving the residents of Henry County for 50 years.

•Flora M. Johnson, age 93, died Jan. 23 at the Lone Tree Care Center.

•Denise Conrad and James Aldridge were married Oct. 25, 2003 in Elkhart, Indiana.

•WACO Warriors beat Central Lee in overtime 54-51 in a “barn burner” of a basketball game.

•The WACO Warriors were defeated by the Winfield-Mt. Union Lady Wolves, 43-28, in Wayland.

•Doris Jean Peiffer, age 77, of Fairfield passed away Jan. 18, 2009 in Fairfield. She is survived by her children and their families, Donna Kaufman of Wayland, and Anthony Peiffer of Fairfield; and daughter-in-law Debbie Peiffer of Lockridge.

2014

•Jeff M. Evans and Sheila A. Evans, both of Wayland, have been named to the President’s List at William Penn University for the fall 2013 semester.

•Reuben B. Widmer, M.D., age 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep. He lived a full and amazing life, moving from a curious, creative Mennonite farm boy to a professor emeritus at the University of Iowa Medical School.

•Justin “Smitty” Ryan Smith, age 31, of Mt. Pleasant died Jan. 4, 2014 from injuries suffered in a snowmobile accident.
